Whether you're planning to buy a new console or waiting for a PC release, this guide covers every officially supported GTA 6 platform, the status of unannounced versions, and what to know before purchasing.

| PlayStation 4 | No announced version | None |
| Xbox One | No announced version | None |
| Nintendo Switch 2 | Not officially announced | Unknown |
| Steam Deck | Not officially supported | Unknown |
Important: PS5 Pro is part of the PlayStation 5 hardware family, but Rockstar has not published a complete platform-by-platform technical performance comparison. No special GTA 6 PS5 Pro graphics mode should be assumed without confirmation.
GTA 6 on PlayStation 5
GTA 6 is officially confirmed for PlayStation 5. Rockstar lists PS5 as one of the game's launch platforms, and pre-orders are available through the PlayStation Store and authorized retailers.
The game takes players to the fictional state of Leonida, including Vice City, with Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos as its main protagonists.
Rockstar has also showcased extensive GTA 6 footage captured on PlayStation 5, giving players an official look at the game's environments, characters, and visual presentation.
Will GTA 6 Work on PS5 Digital Edition?
Yes. PS5 Digital Edition is a PlayStation 5 console without a disc drive, and GTA 6 is available as a digital purchase.
Players should purchase the game through the appropriate regional PlayStation Store or redeem a compatible download code.
Will GTA 6 Be Available on PS5 Pro?
PS5 Pro belongs to the PlayStation 5 console family and supports PS5 games.
However, Rockstar has not provided a comprehensive official comparison of GTA 6's resolution, frame rate, and graphics settings across the standard PS5 and PS5 Pro.
Players should distinguish general PS5 Pro compatibility from specific claims about enhanced performance.
GTA 6 on Xbox Series X
Xbox Series X is an officially confirmed GTA 6 launch platform.
Players can pre-order the game through the Xbox Store and participating retailers.
Xbox Series X is Microsoft's higher-performance console in the Series X|S family, but Rockstar has not published a full technical comparison between the Xbox and PlayStation versions of GTA 6.
Claims about exact resolution, frame-rate targets, or superior graphical performance on a particular console should be supported by official specifications or independent testing.
Will GTA 6 Run on Xbox Series S?
Yes. Rockstar explicitly lists Xbox Series X|S as supported launch platforms.
This means Xbox Series S is included in the official November 19, 2026 release.
However, Rockstar has not released a complete public breakdown of the differences between the Series S and Series X versions.
It is reasonable to expect that hardware capabilities may influence rendering settings, but the exact GTA 6 resolution and frame-rate targets remain unconfirmed.
Will GTA 6 Be 60 FPS on Xbox Series S?
Rockstar has not confirmed a 60 FPS mode for Xbox Series S.
Until official performance details or reliable testing become available, specific frame-rate claims should be treated as speculation.
GTA 6 PC Release: Is It Coming to Windows?
Rockstar has not officially announced a Windows PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI.
The current official launch information identifies PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no confirmed PC release date or system requirements.
Rockstar has released previous Grand Theft Auto games on PC, but historical precedent does not guarantee a specific GTA 6 launch window.
PC gamers should wait for an official announcement before purchasing hardware or pre-ordering a supposed PC edition.
Will GTA 6 Be on Steam?
There is currently no official GTA 6 Steam release announcement.
Although GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 are available on Steam, Rockstar has not confirmed which storefronts would distribute a future GTA 6 PC edition.
Will GTA 6 Be on Epic Games Store?
Epic Games Store availability is also unconfirmed.
No specific PC storefront, pre-order date, or digital distribution agreement has been officially announced for GTA 6.
Is GTA 6 Coming to PS4?
No PlayStation 4 version of GTA 6 has been announced.
Rockstar's official platform list focuses on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
PS4 owners should not assume that GTA 6 will be released for their console or that purchasing a PS5 version will make it playable on PS4.
If Rockstar changes its platform plans, the announcement should appear through official channels.
Will GTA 6 Release on Xbox One?
Rockstar has not announced an Xbox One version of GTA 6.
Xbox Series X|S support does not mean the game is compatible with Xbox One hardware.
Players who currently own an Xbox One will need to consider a supported console if they want to play at the scheduled launch.
Will GTA 6 Come to Nintendo Switch 2?
Rockstar has not announced a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Grand Theft Auto VI.
There is no official Switch 2 release date, gameplay footage, or confirmed technical specification for GTA 6.
Online claims about a Switch 2 port should therefore be treated as unverified unless Rockstar or Nintendo confirms them.
Can You Play GTA 6 on Steam Deck?
Steam Deck compatibility has not been confirmed.
Because Rockstar has not announced a PC version, there is no official Steam Deck verification status, performance target, or compatibility assessment for GTA 6.
Claims about handheld performance would be premature.
GTA 6 on PS5 vs Xbox Series X: Which Is Better?
Both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are officially supported at launch.
The best console for GTA 6 may depend on your existing hardware, controller preferences, digital game library, and preferred ecosystem.
| Feature | PlayStation 5 | Xbox Series X |
|---|---|---|
| GTA 6 launch support | Confirmed | Confirmed |
| Release date | November 19, 2026 | November 19, 2026 |
| Digital pre-orders | Available | Available |
| Official GTA 6 resolution target | Not fully detailed | Not fully detailed |
| Official GTA 6 frame-rate comparison | Not published | Not published |
| Complete technical comparison | Pending | Pending |
Rockstar's promotional material uses the phrase "Plays Best On PlayStation 5," but a marketing statement alone should not be converted into unverified numerical performance claims.
For a detailed comparison, players should wait for technical analyses using the final released game.
Will GTA 6 Support 60 FPS on Consoles?
Rockstar has not published a complete official frame-rate specification for all GTA 6 console versions.
Some fans hope for 60 FPS performance modes, particularly on higher-end hardware.
However, no particular frame-rate option should be presented as confirmed without official documentation.
Graphics modes, dynamic resolution, ray tracing, and performance targets may vary by platform.
GTA 6 Digital and Physical Editions
Rockstar offers Standard and Ultimate editions of GTA 6.
The Standard Edition includes the base game, while the Ultimate Edition includes additional content.
Digital pre-orders are available through supported platform storefronts.
Rockstar has also announced a physical code-in-box version, which contains a digital download code instead of a game disc.
Players who prefer traditional physical media should pay particular attention to this detail before purchasing.
GTA 6 Pre-Load and Release Dates
Rockstar has confirmed that eligible digital pre-orders can begin pre-loading GTA 6 on November 12, 2026, at local midnight.
The game's scheduled release remains November 19, 2026.
