Grand Theft Auto VI has not been released yet, but unofficial physical copies of the highly anticipated game are already being advertised in China. A Chinese-language seller has introduced collectible PlayStation 5 editions of GTA 6, complete with game cases and decorative Blu-ray discs.
The unusual products are offered in two configurations: Standard Edition and Ultimate Edition. However, there is one major catch: neither version contains a playable copy of Grand Theft Auto VI.
Fake GTA 6 PS5 Discs Appear in China
According to a report published by Notebookcheck on October 17, 2026, images circulating on social media show a Chinese-language advertisement for unofficial GTA 6 physical editions.
The images were shared by the GTA 6 Info account and feature PS5-style packaging designed to resemble legitimate retail releases.
The seller describes the products as a commemorative collector's model rather than a functioning video game.
The advertised packages reportedly include:
- GTA 6 Standard Edition-themed PS5 packaging.
- GTA 6 Ultimate Edition-themed PS5 packaging.
- Decorative Blu-ray discs with different printed labels.
- Front and back cover artwork.
- A collectible insert resembling a game activation card.
Despite their appearance, the discs do not contain the actual GTA 6 game and cannot be used to play it on a PlayStation 5.
The Ultimate Edition Replica Is Particularly Unusual
One interesting detail is the existence of a boxed Ultimate Edition replica.
Rockstar Games has officially confirmed that GTA 6 Ultimate Edition is available digitally, but there is no official physical Ultimate Edition.
This makes the Chinese collector's package especially unusual because it imitates a physical product that Rockstar does not officially offer.
The seller's promotional images reportedly show different disc designs for the Standard and Ultimate versions, along with detailed packaging artwork.
Official GTA 6 Physical Copies Will Not Include Discs
The appearance of these unofficial products comes amid discussion about Rockstar's decision not to include game discs in the official physical release.
According to Rockstar Games' official support documentation, the boxed Standard Edition of Grand Theft Auto VI will contain a digital download code instead of a playable disc.
The official boxed edition is scheduled to become available on November 12, 2026, allowing customers to redeem their codes and preload the game before launch.
GTA 6 itself is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Official GTA 6 Editions vs. Chinese Collectible Replicas
| Feature | Official Standard Edition | Official Ultimate Edition | Chinese Replicas |

| Physical packaging | Yes | No | Yes |
| Playable game | Yes, via download code | Yes, digitally | No |
| Game disc | No | No | Decorative disc |
| Official Rockstar product | Yes | Yes | No |
Who Created the Unofficial GTA 6 Packaging?
The promotional images reportedly credit Lionheart for the design of the collectible packaging.
Notebookcheck noted that the name could refer to a branding agency operating in Shanghai and London, although no official connection has been established.
There is currently no confirmed evidence that Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive authorized the creation or sale of these commemorative replicas.
Why Are Fans Interested in Physical GTA 6 Copies?
Physical editions have traditionally been popular among Grand Theft Auto fans, particularly collectors who enjoy displaying game boxes, artwork, and special-edition merchandise.
Rockstar's decision to distribute the official boxed version through a digital download code means buyers will not receive a traditional playable disc.
For some collectors, decorative editions may offer a way to display GTA 6 packaging even without owning physical game media.
However, these unofficial products should not be confused with authentic Rockstar merchandise or legitimate game purchases.
Can You Play GTA 6 Using These Chinese Discs?
No. The unofficial discs are decorative collectibles and do not contain a functioning version of Grand Theft Auto VI.
Purchasing one of these packages will not grant access to the game, unlock an early release, or provide an official activation license.
Anyone looking to purchase GTA 6 should use Rockstar's official website or an authorized retailer to avoid confusing collectible replicas with legitimate copies.
